Wormwood is a strongly aromatic semi-shrub up to 120 cm tall. Native to Europe and Asia, it has been cultivated in Central Europe since ancient times as a medicinal plant and as a spice. In medieval Europe it was once considered the most important remedy for 'all exhaustion', and has traditionally been used as an effective remedy for worms in the digestive tract. The most important bioactive contents are the essential oil with more than 50 constituents, bitter sesquiterpenoid lactones, flavonoids, azulenes, phenolic acids, tannins and lignans. In addition to its supporting purpose, wormwood is used in the production of alcoholic beverages and in cosmetics.

USE:
